Thank you, Rebecca; you've just given voice to much that stirs in my writer's heart. My mom died on Thursday, an end to the long goodbye. I've cared for her and her affairs through the adventure we call Dementia, hoarding, etc. I, too, visit the waters daily, to gather wisdom and comfort. Your stream offers lovely metaphors I'll carry with me.

Oh, Christine, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I had a long goodbye with my mother and was her one of her primary caretakers at the end, too. I'm so glad this resonated with you. It sounds like we've been walking a parallel path! Thanks for being here with me.

I needed this water today. I love your dad stories so much, because i see my own dad in them. So much love.

I can hear the water running in the creek. The rush and the hush of time. I felt the emotional compression with a gurling gut. It's all so natural.

Even the joyful cat cards! (which helped put some Happy into New Year)

Very thoughtful -- and caring for another is like the message from the water -- do what you can with what you have and don't let guilt strangle your heart...

Thank you, Rebecca. I so needed to be connected to soulful reflections. Your words are a balm to the business-as-usual insanity swirling like the Santa Anna's through our days. All this

I’m so glad you had a good trip. I love this: “If your culture yells WORK HARDER, work softly, with tenderness and purpose. If it says DO MORE, do less.” I’m determined to cultivate stillness, rest, and joy this year. Come to think of it, I don’t believe “hard” work is at all fruitful.

Thanks, Jillian! I agree--there are so many narratives around work that are worth shifting...
